Sensitisation workshop on vector borne diseases held

A State level sensitisation workshop and review meeting on vector borne diseases (dengue, malaria, Chikungunya and Japanese encephalitis) was organised at the Health directorate on Wednesday. The programme was chaired by the mission director National Health Mission (NHM) Swati Bhadauria.

In the meeting, the MD directed all the districts to ensure that medicines, mosquito nets, test kits for prevention of dengue are procured in time.

She said that the potential breeding grounds of mosquitoes in cities and villages should be earmarked for destruction of larvae.

Bhadauria directed the officers to coordinate with the Panchayati Raj department and village Pradhans for prevention of dengue. She said that coordination with other departments at block level should also be done for the purpose. The MD said that necessary directives to the schools mentioning sanitation activities and wearing full sleeved clothes should be sent.

In the meeting the officer in charge of National Vector Borne disease programme Dr Pankaj Singh gave a presentation on district wise situation of dengue. He said that the Asha workers have been directed to visit all the households to spread awareness about dengue and undertake source reduction activities.
