Two Nepali men arrested for killing man

The police arrested two Nepali men on charges of killing a man Girvir Singh in Mori, Uttarkashi. The officials informed that the deceased’s wife Pyari Devi registered a complaint on July 26 stating that her husband had gone to Polhadi Tok to work on their field when two men allegedly killed him and disposed of his body in the Kedarganga River. His body was recovered from the river on July 25.

Under the investigation led by Purola SHO Mohan Singh Kathait, the police teams conducted a thorough investigation using technical support such as phone call records and location data. This led to the arrest of two Nepali-origin suspects, Veer Bahadur and Prem Bahadur late on Tuesday.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that the deceased had forcefully entered their tent in Polhadi Tok on July 24 with malicious intent, leading to a physical altercation. Girvir managed to escape but was chased down and caught near the Kharsadi bridge by the accused. As per the accused, they struck him on the head with a wood, causing him to fall unconscious and threw him into the Kedarganga River. They also threw all of his belongings in the river. The police recovered the deceased’s pants from the possession of the accused, the officials said. Commending the police team for solving the case and apprehending the culprits, the Uttarkashi SP Arpan Yaduvanshi awarded the team a cash reward of Rs 5,000.
