Collective participation a must for success of sanitation campaign: CM

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in ‘Swacchhata Apanao Bimari Bhagao’ programme organised under the ongoing special sanitation campaign at Gandhi Park here on Wednesday. In the programme, the CM flagged off the litter picker cleaning machine’s of the Panchayati Raj department for the 13 districts of the State. Speaking on the occasion the CM said that the sanitation campaign can be effectively implemented with collective participation only. He appreciated the efforts of sanitation workers and said that they are discharging their duties with dedication during the ongoing monsoon season. Special sanitation campaign is being organized in the State from August 12 to 15.
The CM said that there is a close association between sanitation and environment and we should keep sanitation our priority to keep the environment clean. He said that use of new technology should be encouraged for cleanliness and soon a QR code system will start for monitoring the sanitation.
Dhami said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated a programme ‘ Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign for environment conservation and appealed that everyone should plant a sapling in the memory of mother in the campaign.
Cabinet minister Premchand Agarwal said that a campaign to clean every city of the State is underway in the State and the role of sanitation workers is important in the campaign. He said that the remuneration of the sanitation workers has been increased under the leadership of CM Dhami.
Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLA Khajan Dass, Umesh Sharma Kau, outgoing Mayor of Dehradun Sunil Uniyal Gama, Mahanagar president Sidharth Agarwal, district magistrate (DM) Dehradun Sonika and others attended the programme.
