Two dead, four injured after car falls into gorge on Mussoorie Road

A car carrying tourists from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, fell into a gorge early on Friday morning, in which two people died and four sustained serious injuries. The officials informed that the accident occurred around 5 AM on Friday near the Shivalik Maggi Point curve, close to Rishi Ashram on Mussoorie Road. The car was carrying six tourists from Noida who had come to visit Mussoorie. The injured were rescued from the deep gorge using combing tools and taken to Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital for treatment. They said that upon being informed, the Mussoorie police station house officer Arvind Chaudhary reached the spot with a police team. The Fire Service and SDRF were also informed and summoned to the location. A rescue operation was launched with the help of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and all six occupants of the car were retrieved from the gorge. However, two persons succumbed to their injuries while four others were injured and rushed to GDMC hospital for treatment. The deceased include the driver and a resident of Nodia, Anil Kumar (32) and Ajay Kumar (31), a tourist from Bulandshahr, they added. According to officials, the vehicle was headed to Mussoorie when the driver lost control on the sharp turn. The four survivors are undergoing treatment at the hospital, they added.
