Roof top solar power plants finding favour in Uttarakhand

PM-Surya Ghar free electricity scheme is finding favour with the people in the State. A total of 4,838 solar rooftop plants with a capacity of 17 MW have so far been installed in the State under the ambitious scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) which is the nodal agency for the scheme in the State has taken a target to install solar rooftop plants of about 200 MW capacity under the scheme in the State. The managing director of UPCL, Anil Kumar said that UPCL has achieved a record by installing about 62 per cent more solar rooftop plants in the month of August compared to July in this year.
In a recent national level meeting chaired by MNRE additional secretary, the UPCL MD Sudeep Jain said that the corporation is also providing the facility of auto technical feasibility report (TFR) and load increase on solar applications so that solar plants are being installed in a minimum time period.
To avail the benefits of the scheme, consumers can apply directly through the link available on the national portal pmsuryaghar.gov.in and PM- Surya Ghar App.
Under the scheme, a subsidy of Rs 50,000 (Central share Rs 33,000, State share Rs 17,000) for one KW capacity plant is being provided to consumers under the scheme. Similarly, a subsidy of Rs one lakh and Rs 1, 36,800 is being provided for plants of two KW and three KW capacity respectively.
