The development of a unified software solution for water billing and additional facilities has recently been developed and implemented, the secretary (Appraisal) at Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan (UJS), Maneesh Semwal said.

It is important to note that the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) has been working for several months on this unified software solution to enhance services. This software will meet the public needs for both Peyjal Nigam and Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan (UJS).

Semwal informed that UJS has had an operational software system since 2011, allowing residents in the State to easily pay their water bills and request new connections, among other features.

Previously, Peyjal Nigam was primarily assigned to construction work, but its responsibilities have recently expanded. As a consequence, numerous water connections have transitioned to Peyjal Nigam, which is now responsible for collecting revenue through water bills from consumers. In response to this change, the authorities decided to develop a new joint software system for both UJS and Peyjal Nigam. This system will enable residents to pay their bills, apply for new connections and access additional services.

Commenting on the current status, Semwal reported that the unified software has recently been developed and implemented. He said that Peyjal Nigam has been uploading their data as soon as their schemes are completed. Additionally, based on the previous software, UJS has begun transferring consumer data to the new unified software. This transition has not caused any disruption, as UJS is slowly transferring the data. Semwal informed that data from nearby areas has been uploaded first, starting with Nathanpur area of Dehradun. It is expected that all data will be uploaded to the new software by the end of this year.

To recall, Semwal had earlier highlighted that this software would benefit customers in many ways, as it would serve as a single-window system. Customers would be able to pay their bills from anywhere and apply for connections without needing to visit the offices, he had also said.
