KU hosts workshop on making courses industry-friendly

Kumaun University organised a two-day workshop on skill development and restructuring of professional courses keeping in mind the current needs of the industry and future prospects. Inaugurating the workshop, the KU vice- chancellor Diwan Singh Rawat said that the role of universities was no longer limited to providing academic knowledge. With industry now preferring youth proficient in professional skills and technical competencies, KU had taken initiative to restructure the courses, he said, adding that their aim was to make the students not only theoretically competent but also to provide them with practical skills to help them access employment.
Addressing the workshop, former VC of GBP University of Agriculture and Technology, B S Bisht stressed on the need to bridge the gap between education and industry.
