Cong needs a narrative to counter Hindutva plot of BJP: Rawat
PNS | DEHRADUN
Former chief minister Harish Rawat has said that the Congress party should come up with a narrative to deal with the narrative of Hindutva unleashed by the BJP in the State. Taking to the social media on Saturday, the former CM said that he had understood the designs of BJP and its narrative of Hindutva in the year 2016 and had crafted a narrative of Uttarakhandiyat to deal with it. He said that despite a strong wave of Hindutva, 34 per cent of the electorate of Uttarakhand stood with the Congress party in the elections of 2017 and this trend continued in the elections of 2022.
“My problem is that though I probably was able to explain my stand to the people of Uttarakhand I failed to explain to the people of my party that Uttarakhandiyat is the correct narrative against the Modi-Dhami-Yogi narrative,’’ he said.
The former CM said that the BJP has associated Lord Ram with religious fanaticism and to counter it we (Congress) should bring Uttarakhandiyat close to religion. We should link our culture with Uttarakhandiyat, he wrote on social media.
The former CM added that the slogan of ‘Katoge to Bantoge’ is dangerous and to counter it we should prop up the narrative of our culture, traditions, and concerns. Rawat said that he is not forcing the current leadership of the Congress party to follow the narrative created by him but asking them to craft some other narrative.
