History sheeter from Clement Town injured in police encounter

In latest news from Doon, a notorious history-sheeter identified as Laxaman Singh Rawat, resident of Clement Town was seriously injured during encounter with Doon police. The encounter happened after a police team on checking drive asked the two-wheeler-borne Rawat to stop at Bhauwala. Refusing to stop, he opened fire on the police team and made police to open retaliatory firing. He was later sent to a hospital in Premnagar. The SSP Dehradun Ajai Singh rushed to the encounter spot and then to the hospital to enquire into Rawat’s health. Rawat is suspected to be involved in the Selaqui burglary that happened on December 4. Police had intensified efforts to nab him since then.
Police said that as many as 14 cases under several acts, including Gangster Act and NDPS Act, had been lodged against Rawat at Clement Ton police station, adding that aside from two firearms, several empty cartridges had been recovered from him. His two-wheeler was impounded, too.
