Yoga policy to usher revolution in health sector in Uttarakhand by promoting Yoga & Ayurved: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that Uttarakhand is on the path of becoming the first State in the country to implement the Yoga policy. This policy will help in ushering in a new revolution in the health sector by encouraging Ayurved and Yoga in a comprehensive manner. The CM was addressing the inaugural session of four day long 10th World Ayurved Congress and Arogya Expo-2024 at Parade Ground on Thursday.
The CM said that the State government has requested the AYUSH ministry of government of India to set up the All India Institute of Ayurved in Uttarakhand. He said that once established this institute will become a milestone in the development of Ayurved education and research in the country.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for choosing Uttarakhand for hosting the World Ayurved Congress, the CM said that it is a matter of great pride for the State that the representatives of more than 50 countries are taking part in the event. He said that the presence of more than 250 stalls in the event is a proof of global acceptance of Ayurved.
The CM said that 300 Ayushman Ayurved centres are operational in the State and more than 70 AYUSH specialists are providing consultancy by the e- sanjeevni portal. Dhami announced that 50 and 10 bed AYUSH hospitals are being set up in all the districts of the State. He said that one village in every district is being developed as AYUSH village to promote production of medicinal herbs. The CM added that the State government has implemented Uttarakhand AYUSH policy to provide impetus to wellness, AYUSH, education, research and medicinal plants. He said that 50 new Yoga and wellness centres will be set up in the State soon.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union minister of State (independent charge) for AYUSH, Pratap Rao Jadhav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the production in AYUSH sector of the country has increased by eight times in the last 10 years. He said that the theme ‘digital Ayurved’ for the World Congress is apt since Ayurved today is moving forward by using Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning and modern technology. He said that the AYUSH and herbal products are being exported to more than 150 countries of the world. The union minister of the State said that it is generally observed that though the people of rural areas appreciate Ayurvedic treatment but in absence of availability of AYUSH medicines they turn to the allopathic medicines. Jadhav said that the government is now focusing on setting up the AYUSH Aaushadi Kendra in the country and the first such centre was opened recently at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi.
Expressing confidence that the Ayurved Congress will prove to be a confluence of new ideas, innovations and ancient culture and wisdom, Jadhav said that the event will provide a forum to the commercial opportunities.
The secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Rajesh Kotecha said that the World Congress will not only help in giving international recognition to the AYUSH system of medicine but will help in growth of the sector.
In the inaugural session the chief secretary Radha Raturi read out the message of PM Modi.
Cabinet ministers Satpal Maharaj, Prem Chand Agarwal, Dhan Singh Rawat, MLAs Khajan Das, Savita Kapoor, Umesh Sharma Kau, Kishore Upadhyaya, Jhansi MP Anurag Sharma, Acharya Balkrishna and others attended the inaugural ceremony of the event.
