Dhami’s three years in office marked by corruption & travails of unemployed: Congress

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Congressa has alleged that three years of the State government under Pushkar Singh Dhami have been marred by corruption, rapes and the unemployed struggling to get a job.

The former Pradesh Congress Committee president and Congress Working Committee member Ganesh Godiyal said that the major ‘achievements’ of the Dhami government during the past three years are corruption and rising cases of rape along with the unemployed struggling to get a job. Godiyal said, “The major corruption means that the mining, land and liquor mafia is in a domination position. The liquor policy was drafted according to the wishes of the liquor mafia and the government facilitated door to door delivery of alcohol. Along with this, under pressure from the mining mafia, the period of the leased lots was extended and a land law was introduced mainly keeping the interests of the land mafia in mind.

The Dhami government has not executed a single task in the interest of the people of Uttarakhand, which they may take pride in, during its past three years in office. The corruption is rising and despite the allegations regarding ministers earning more than their known sources of income, the government did not take even a step to ascertain the facts behind such allegations. Corruption was orchestrated in the name of providing government jobs while the Cooperation minister provided jobs to his acquaintances in the Cooperatives department even as the educated youths struggle to find jobs. The Ganga of development in Uttarakhand is merely a dialogue used by the BJP, which usually dries after the elections.”

Godiyal further said that crimes against women and minors have risen by record levels during the past three years under Dhami. He raised the issue of Ankita Bhandari’s murder, questioning why the government hasn’t been able to ensure its closure, adding that a BJP leader was allegedly directly involved in it. Godiyal cited various instances of serious crime and corruption to substantiate his claim about the Dhami government failing to check either of these two aspects.–
