UCADA orders probe into BKTC chairman’s Kedarnath Helicopter journey

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) has ordered an investigation after Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) chairman Hemant Dwivedi reached Kedarnath by helicopter on Monday despite the ongoing ban on helicopter services in the area.
Dwivedi travelled to Kedarnath on July 14, the first Monday of the Sawan, along with reportedly a group of influential people using a helicopter operated by Heritage Aviation. However, helicopter services to Kedarnath were suspended following recent accidents in the region. Due to bad weather, the helicopter reportedly stayed in Kedarnath for nearly 24 hours.
After the matter came to light, UCADA issued a notice to Heritage Aviation and initiated an inquiry into the incident. Dwivedi had shared information about his presence in Kedarnath through social media. Following public and media attention, he has distanced himself from the issue and placed the responsibility on the helicopter company.
