Week forecast to start with very heavy rain in Dehradun & five other districts

Moderate rain was witnessed in Dehradun and other parts of the State on Sunday, the start of the week may bring with it heavy to very heavy rain in Dehradun and five other districts. The State Meteorological Centre has issued an orange warning (be prepared to take action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Bageshwar districts today.

Apart from this, a yellow warning (be aware) has been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in all districts of the State on Monday.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers, one or two of which may be intense/heavy in some areas, are likely today. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 29 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State on Sunday with 28.9 millimetres in Dehradun, 22.5 millimetres in Narendranagar, 13 millimetres in Vikasnagar, 7.5 millimetres in Dhanolti, 2.5 millimetres in Srinagar and two millimetres in Chamba.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Sunday were 30 degrees Celsius and 26.5 degrees Celsius in Dehradun, 33.6 degrees Celsius and 24.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 19.9 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius and 24.5 degrees Celsius and 18.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. No major disasters caused by rain were reported in the State on the day.
