Mental Health Awareness Week-2025 concludes at VIMS with slew of programs

The five-day Mental Health Awareness Week 2025- organised by the department of Psychiatry at Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences and Multispecialty Hospital- concluded on Friday. A string of programmes pertaining to this year’s theme, ‘Mental Health in Disasters and Emergencies’ were held during the week.
On the closing day, the speakers elaborated on how to treat mental health and disorders in difficult situations, especially for people living in geographically difficult regions and remote areas. The chairman of the Venkateshwara group of institutions, Sudhir Giri said that
respectful behaviour with mentally ill people, proper counselling and accurate treatment with patience would improve the level of mental health.
The idea of a healthy India is meaningless without good mental health of its people, said the pro-chancellor, Shri Venkateshwara University,
Rajeev Tyagi.
The closing ceremony was accompanied by several workshops, interactive sessions and cultural programmes aimed at boosting mental health awareness among students, staff and the community.
