Breastfeeding Week concludes at VIMS with large participation

The week-long World Breastfeeding Week-2025 which had commenced on August 1 concluded at Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) organised
under the joint aegis of the departments of Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Obstetrics of VIMS.

The senior medical doctors, UG and PG medical students and nursing professionals along with others have motivated thousands of patients, especially mothers of newborns, to breastfeed by explaining the benefits of breastfeeding through poster making, street plays, quiz competitions, debate competitions and psychological counselling.

Appreciating the efforts of the participants, the chairperson of the Venkateshwara group of institutes, Sudhir Giri said that they must resolutely move forward to help the PM’s vision of
Healthy India materialise on the ground.  

Dwelling on the advantages of breastfeeding, the pro-chancellor of Shri Venkateshwara University, Rajeev Tyagi said that the mother’s milk is like nectar for the baby as per medical research, adding that breastfeeding provides four times more immunity as compared to children who drink packaged milk.  The renowned paediatrician and head of department of Paediatrics, VIMS, Dr Rajesh Bansal said that
breastfeeding not just boosts immunity of the children but it also gives them mental and emotional strength.
