Three people died and two were seriously injured after a Scorpio vehicle (registration UK07AC3409) fell into a about 300 metre deep gorge on Pavki Devi road in Narendra Nagar block, Tehri district late on Wednesday. The officials informed that the five occupants were traveling from Shyampur in Rishikesh to attend a wedding in Pavki Devi Nai when the vehicle lost control and plunged into the gorge. The deceased have been identified as Vimal Kandiyal (31), Rahul Kaluda (23) and Ashish Kaluda (26), all residents of Shyampur. The injured are Nikhil Ramola (21) and Tanuj Pundir (26), also residents of Shyampur. The officials informed that the SDRF team from Vyasi post, led by sub-inspector Sawar Singh, received the information from the nearest police chowki and immediately reached the site with rescue equipment. Working with the local police, the team conducted a night-long operation on Wednesday till wee hours of Thursday and retrieved the bodies and the injured. The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment while the deceased were handed over to the district police. The police are yet to ascertain the cause of the accident. The investigation is ongoing, the officials added.
