Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the schools should not merely limit themselves to bookish knowledge but they should also play a role in inculcating virtues and promoting cultural and spiritual values in the students. He was addressing a programme after inaugurating the newly constructed building of Inter College, Yamkeshwar in Pauri district on Friday. He said that the ancient tradition of Gurukuls helped in character building of students.
The UP CM said that in the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, emphasis is laid on practical and skill based education. He said that innovation in education will help in overall development of villages and curb migration. Addressing the programme, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that education is not merely a medium of getting employment or degrees but is the basis of virtues, consciousness and moral values. He said that ub last four years more than 28,000 youngsters have got government jobs.
He said that the State government is working in the direction of inclusive development by strengthening education infrastructure, quality education and innovations.
The Haridwar MP and former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat said that emphasis should be laid on inculcating quality education in the students. Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat, local MLA Renu Bisht and others attended the programme.
