While winding up his two-day Corbett National Park visit-his first one-the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that he had realised why it is globally renowned. He looked deeply impressed by its natural beauty and rich wildlife diversity this park possesses. During the visit, he spoke to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over the phone and lauded the park’s efficient management.
During his tour, he also shared his experiences with the Park’s director Saket Badola, describing the forest as a historic heritage site with a distinct identity compared to other national parks. He emphasised that preserving this legacy is the responsibility of the authorities and lauded their efforts.
Birla looked pleased after visiting the museum at Dhangarhi, noting that it offers engaging and informative insights into wildlife and the environment for the younger generation. He further praised the dedication and courage of the forest personnel stationed in remote outposts, who risked their lives to protect forests and wildlife under challenging conditions.
Badola briefed him about various patrolling methods in the Park, including foot patrols, drone surveillance and boat patrols.
Witnessing herds of elephants, deer and Sambar during the visit, Birla remarked, “Corbett truly is a treasure trove of wildlife.”
