Questioning the functioning of the Election Commission and the administration regarding the voter verification notices being issued under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive, the Congress leaders alleged that a large number of notices are being sent to voters without clear reasons, creating confusion and uncertainty among the people. “Surprisingly, a notice has been issued to the Leader of the Opposition, and that over 800 notices have been sent to a single booth under the Laksar Assembly constituency of Haridwar district,” the national spokesperson of the party, Alok Sharma said while addressing a presser here on Thursday.
He further alleged that there have been complaints of voter registration without the consent of the BLO In some cases and demanded an impartial investigation into the people’s complaints regarding the voter enumeration process.
The Haridwar district Congress president Baleshwar Singh said that the issuance of notices without clear reasons is causing unnecessary harassment to voters.
Echoing him, another senior party leader, Manoj Saini stressed the need for a completely fair and transparent electoral process.
