Missing Mori minor rescued in Dehradun; suspect arrested

Police claimed to have solved the case of kidnapping and rape of a minor in the Mori police station area after the girl was recovered and the accused youth was arrested. A joint team of police and SOG recovered on Thursday the minor from Nalapani Chowk of Dehradun, while the accused was also apprehended at the scene. The accused has been identified as Neeraj Kumar (20), a resident of Purola village, currently residing in Arya Nagar, Dehradun

Notably, police became active after a man filed a complaint at the Mori police station on September 3, alleging that his minor daughter had left home without informing him and had not returned. Based on the complaint, police registered a kidnapping case against an unknown suspect and began an investigation.

A joint police and SOG team was formed as per the instruction of the Uttarkashi superintendent of police Kamlesh Upadhyay to recover the missing girl and arrest the accused.  Under the supervision of the deputy superintendent of police, Barkot, Chanchal Sharma, the team, led by the Mori station house officer Deepak Rawat, conducted an investigation using CCTV footage, surveillance, and manual policing.

The accused was being produced in court, and further legal proceedings were underway, said
sub- inspector Santosh Bhatt who was a member of the police team.
