The senior superintendent of Haridwar district jail in Roshanabad was allegedly threatened in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang through phone calls and WhatsApp messages. The incident has led police and SOG teams to start an investigation after a complaint was filed by the jail officer.

Senior superintendent Manoj Kumar Arya told police that he received a phone call at around 10:47 PM on September 11. As the call came late at night, he told the caller that it was not appropriate to talk at that time and asked him to call the next morning. However, at around 11:24 PM, the caller allegedly sent him a WhatsApp message and claimed to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi group. The following day, September 12, the person allegedly called Arya several times. When the calls were not answered, he reportedly sent threatening messages through WhatsApp.

Arya subsequently informed Haridwar senior superintendent of police Navneet Singh Bhullar and submitted a complaint on September 12. The State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIDCUL) police registered an FIR against the accused and started an investigation. The police said that the accused is reportedly the husband of a woman inmate lodged in the district jail. The identity and motive of the person are being investigated.

Bhullar said that police and SOG teams have been deployed to trace the person behind the threats. The police are also verifying whether the caller has any actual connection with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
