Motorcycle hits divider near Bindal Pull, rider dies

A 35-year-old motorcycle rider died after his vehicle crashed into a road divider, while he was riding with his younger brother as a pillion rider near Bindal bridge in the wee hours of Monday. The accident took place around 12.30 AM when the motorcycle reportedly went out of control while the siblings were travelling from Yamuna Colony towards Clock Tower.

The deceased was identified as Nitesh Sharma, a resident of Doon Hills Colony on Ring Road, Dehradun. 

According to Cantt police sources, information about the accident was received through the emergency number 112. A police team reached the spot but did not find the injured persons there. A damaged motorcycle was found at the site.

Police said that the motorcycle became uncontrollable near the Kishan Nagar side, before Bindal Pull, and crashed into the divider in the middle of the road. Nitesh suffered serious injuries after his head hit the divider.

His brother Abhinav Sharma took his injured brother to Government Doon Medical College Hospital in an auto-rickshaw for treatment. However, Nitesh succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

An inquest was conducted as per procedure and the body was sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Coronation Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
