Rawat addresses the public regarding the Covid situation in State
Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat addressed the people of Uttarakhand live on the social media considering the Covid-19 situation in the state on Sunday. He informed the citizens about the measures taken by the state government and the planned measures for tackling the Covid pandemic. Stating that the state too is not untouched by the pandemic affecting the whole nation, the CM said that the manner in which the people are facing the pandemic will certainly help in winning the battle against Covid. He said, “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central government is providing all assistance to us to tackle Covid-19. I am also in regular touch with the Union Home minister Amit Shah and Union Health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan.”
Regarding the steps taken in the state, he said that the government is working with all its strength for bettering the prevention, treatment, necessary medicines, equipment and other facilities related to Covid. He averred that basic necessities like ambulance, oxygen and medicines for treating Covid patients are being met on time. As part of these measures, 132 new 108 service ambulances were allotted among all the districts of the state on April 29. Of these, 36 ambulances have advanced life support and 96 have basic life support facilities. Rawat said, “Anyone experiencing Covid symptoms should not be careless and get tested immediately. One should not conceal this, as basic alertness by individuals can prevent many others from getting infected. If you are infected by Covid, do not panic but take the medicines and observe the guidelines issued by the doctor with patience. One should not venture outdoors unnecessarily and maintain cleanliness in the surroundings.”
Informing that the state government had issued toll free number and WhatsApp number for any information regarding Covid, he requested the public to contact these numbers directly to seek consultation. He said that the availability of medicines and oxygens is being ensured in government and private hospitals. The state government procured 7,500 Remdesivir injections from Gujarat on April 27 and two days ago got 2,000 more. Rawat said that the state government had also authorised all the MLAs to spend Rs one crore each from their MLA fund for Covid related works. Rawat said, “I am in constant touch with senior officials and all public representatives and officials concerned of the 13 districts. I am also visiting the Covid hospitals to ascertain the ground situation. Those aged above 45 are being vaccinated for free, I request you to get vaccinated. My government has also decided that those in the 18-45 years age group will also be vaccinated for free. I assure you all that the state government is committed to providing all possible assistance to you,” he stressed.
