Congress suspects foul play in postal ballots

Harish Rawat uploads a video in which one person is seen ticking many postal ballots

A video uploaded by the former chief minister and head of the campaign committee of Uttarakhand Congress Harish Rawat on his Facebook page created a stir on Tuesday. In the video, which purportedly is of an army unit, a person is seen casting the franchise of many persons in the postal ballots allotted by the election commission. In the video one person is heard saying that they should not vote for the Congress party.

In his Facebook post Rawat said “I am making a small video viral to bring things to your knowledge. In this video a person is ticking many postal ballots in an army centre and he is even putting his signature on all the ballots.’’

The former CM said that the EC should take notice of the video.

It is worth mentioning that the Congress party is consistently raising the fear that the ruling BJP can tamper the EVMs and postal ballots in its favour. The postal ballots are given to the armed force personnel deployed in different parts of the country and the employees of the state government engaged in the election process. On Monday a delegation of Congress party led by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal had met the CEO Uttarakhand and submitted a complaint on possible misuse of postal ballots in the favour of BJP candidates. The ruling BJP however has termed the apprehension of Congress as the sign of frustration because the people of the state have rejected the Congress party.
