Woman gang-raped by trio in Haridwar

A woman was allegedly gang raped by three men in the SIIDCUL police station area in Haridwar. The men had initially asked the women to pick mangoes from an orchard and reportedly gang raped her in the woods. On the basis of the complaint of the victim, the police registered a case against the accused and have begun an investigation along with a search for the men.
According to information received from SIIDCUL police, a woman originally from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh lives in a rented house in SIIDCUL area. She works as a daily wage laborer. She told the police that she had gone to Aurangabad for work. After collecting mangoes in a farmer’s orchard, she met Piru, Wajid and Abdul- residents of Hazara Grant.They told the woman to collect mangoes from their orchard for which they promised to pay her Rs 500. After striking the deal, they took the woman to a forest. They threatened the woman when she hesitated and refused to go to the forest. After reaching a secluded place, she was allegedly gang raped by the trio. After this they fled the scene leaving the woman in the forest.
Police inspector Pramod Uniyal said that on the basis of complaint, a case has been registered against the three accused and the police are searching for them. The accused will be arrested soon, he said.
