AAP demands justice, fast-track trial after Tripura student’s death

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded justice in the killing of Tripura student Angel Chakma in Dehradun, describing the incident as a case of racial violence that has raised serious concerns over student safety in Uttarakhand.

In a statement the AAP condemned the incident as inhuman and said it has harmed the reputation of Dehradun, which draws students from across the country. The party alleged that the student was subjected to racial slurs based on physical appearance before being fatally attacked, calling it a reflection of growing intolerance and weak law and order enforcement. AAP leaders said the incident exposes systemic failures in ensuring campus and residential safety for students from other states. They warned that Dehradun’s standing as an “education hub” would be at risk if such crimes are not addressed decisively.
