Following the alleged attack on the Primary Education director Ajay Kumar Naudiyal in his office by the supporters of the BJP MLA from Raipur constituency Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’, the government teachers of the State have threatened to go on a strike. The Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS), the powerful organisation of government school teachers is also contemplating to boycott the ongoing class X and XII examinations of Uttarakhand Vidyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP).
The RSS president Ram Singh Chauhan told The Pioneer that the attack on the director in his office is very unfortunate. He said that the teachers and employees will not tolerate such incidents. Chauhan said that the association is holding discussions with other employee organisations on the issue. On the issue of the boycott of the board examinations, he said that a decision in this regard will be taken after holding consultation with the executive body. He added that the teachers don’t want to fiddle with the future of the students but would not tolerate such incidents.
The class X and XII examinations of UVSP commenced on Monday. The examinations are scheduled to end on March 20. A total of 1,12,266 students are enrolled for class X and 1,10,544 students are enrolled for class XII examinations. The UVSP has set up 1,261 examination centres and has deployed thousands of teachers as invigilators and centre in-charges.
