Birju Muyal arrested for misusing social media, extortion and issuing death threat

Birju Muyal, who is popular on social media, was arrested by Ramnagar police following three complaints on the same day related to allegedly issuing a death threat, extortion, abusing women and verbal abuse.

Complainant Rakesh Nainwal of Dhikuli alleged that Muyal had verbally abused him and threatened to kill him. A case was registered under sections of BNS. Another complainant Dinesh Mehra or Ramnagar stated that the accused had demanded Rs 10,000 from him. He alleged that Muyal verbally abused him and threatened to kill him when he did not pay the amount demanded.

The police lodged another case under sections of BNS against Muyal based on this complaint. The third complainant Neema Devi of Ramnagar stated that when she tried to intervene when he was having a dispute with his wife on July 13, Muyal verbally abused her, threatened and molested her. The police lodge the third case against Muyal under various sections of BNS based on this complaint.

According to sources, in addition to these complaints, Muyal is also accused of frequently misusing social media to level unsubstantiated allegations on people, threatening them and demanding money from them. Following investigation, a police team arrested Muyal on the Rampur Road highway on Sunday.

It is pertinent to mention here that Muyal has considerable following on social media but is also booked under various sections for alleged crimes in the past. Though Muyal is popular on social media, he elicits mixed responses with some appreciating him while others criticise him.
