11 people- stranded in a Yamuna island in Dakpathar-rescued

Vikasnagar kotwali police, in a joint operation with SDRF and water police, safely rescued 11 people, including four women, who were trapped on an island in Yamuna in Dakpathar area after water level of the river suddenly rose.

The locals from Dakpathar informed the Vikasnagar kotwali about the people remaining stuck in an island in the swollen Yamuna near Ashok Ashram. The rescue team rushed in and brought the trapped people to safety. They are learnt to be labourers who had gone to the river in the morning. As the water level rose, they ran off and gathered on the island.  Later, they could not cross the swollen river and remained stranded in the island.
