PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
With continuous rain accompanied by landslides having stopped pilgrimage to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams, the Yatra remains limited to Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham only. According to the data provided by the State Tourism department, more than 42.54 lakh devotees have visited the Char Dham since it started on April 30.
With the pilgrimage to two Dhams remaining suspended, three to five thousand devotees are visiting Kedarnath and Badrinath Dhams every day.
Things are not easy for Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham Yatra either with landslides blocking roads art regular intervals. While Lambagad and Kameda areas along the Badrinath route are continuously throwing challenges the stretch between Sonprayag and Gaurikund is doing the same for Kedarnath Yatra.
While admitting that the rain-triggered disasters have been adversely affecting the Char Dham Yatra this year, the State Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj expressed the hope that the Yatra would pick up pace once again after the weather clears.
