Pauri Police busts cyber crime

Solving an online fraud, the Pauri district police cyber cell has recovered Rs 45000 which was siphoned out by fraudsters from the bank accounts of four victims.

 On the instruction of Senior Superintendent of Police P Renuka Devi to sort out the cyber online fraud cases, the police cyber cell acted on four complaints. 

 According to police Mohit Negi, a resident of Jaunpur Bank colony,  Manali resident of Padampur, motadhang, Tarun Rawat  and Jitendra Prasad of Kotdwar town had lodged separate complaints of online fraud. Police cyber cell with prompt response refunded the defrauded amount to their bank account.     It is pertinent to mention here that Pauri district is witnessing an increase in the cases of cyber crime in recent times. 

 From August 2021 the police cyber cell had received 56 complaints of cyber online fraud and police with quick action on the complaints has recovered Rs 746997.

Pauri district police have told the citizens that they should desist from sharing bank accounts, OTP and other important information with callers on the phone.
