Haridwar district magistrate Mayur Dixit reviewed the process for issuing driving licenses during an unannounced inspection of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) office here on Tuesday. He directed that driving licenses be issued in accordance with prescribed regulations and based on proper driving tests, ensuring the entire process remains transparent and fair. He also reviewed the office’s functioning, public facilities and enforcement activities in detail and issued necessary guidelines to officials.
Further, he took a strict stance against the shops and eateries operating outside the ARTO office premises and directed necessary action. He stated that no unauthorized persons should be allowed to sit within the office premises and that unnecessary crowding should be eliminated.
While reviewing the enforcement works, the DM directed that enforcement campaigns be made more effective to ensure compliance with traffic rules and night checking campaigns should also be conducted regularly.
During the inspection, ARTO (Administration) Nikhil Sharma and ARTO (Enforcement) Neha Jha were present.
