In an important initiative as part of preparations for the Kanwad Mela, the Haridwar Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with Kotak Bank, has arranged for state-of-the-art scrubbers and automatic sweeping machines for the cleanliness and beautification of the ghats.
Speaking of this initiative, the municipal commissioner, Nandan Kumar said that the primary purpose of these machines is to ensure regular, prompt and high-quality cleaning of the ghat areas, providing a clean environment for the devotees.
Launching this special initiative on Friday, the mayor, Kiran Jaisal said that their priority was to ensure that every devotee visiting the Kanwad Mela and the upcoming Ardh Kumbh Mela receives a clean and safe environment. “Modern scrubbers and automatic sweeping machines will make cleaning the ghats more effective and faster than ever before,” she said, adding that the civic body was committed to transforming Haridwar into one of the cleanest and most beautiful pilgrimage sites in the country through integrating sanitation with modern technology.
Among others present on the occasion was the deputy municipal commissioner, Deepak Goswami.
