Congress rallies against UKSSSC paper leak case

The Congress party organised a protest march to the residence of the chief minister on Friday in support of its demands including a Central Bureau of Investigation probe monitored by a sitting judge of the High Court in the UKSSSC paper leak, announcement of a new date for the cancelled examination and removal of UKSSSC chairman.

A number of Congress leaders and workers led by the Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara assembled at Congress Bhawan and started a march to the residence of CM.

Raising slogans against the government and holding placards the march passed through Behl Chowk and Dilaram Bazaar to Cantonment Road where the police stopped the party members with barricades.

Some Congress leaders and workers tried to scale the barricades which resulted in a minor scuffle with the Police.

Addressing the party workers the PCC president Karan Mahara said that the State government has deceived the youngsters of the State which is in search of employment for the last eight and half years.

He said that the unemployed are agitated because of the paper leaks in the recruitment examination. Citing examples of Hakam Singh, Sanjay Dhariwal and Dharmendra Singh Chauhan the PCC president said that it is not surprising that all those associated with the paper leaks are connected with BJP.

He said that merely a CBI probe will not be enough; its monitoring is also needed that is why the Congress wants a HC monitored probe.

Former PCC president Pritam Singh said that the Congress party is standing with the unemployed and wants that the sanctity of the recruitment examinations is preserved. He said that the BJP government has failed on all fronts. 

Former PCC president Ganesh Godiyal said that mining and copying mafia are ruling roost under BJP rule in Uttarakhand. The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Suryakant Dhasmana said that from day one the Congress party stood with the students in the UKSSSC paper leak case. 

The Congress leaders courted arrest and were taken to the police lines from where they were later released.

Secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Qazi Nizamuddin, deputy leader of Congress legislature party Bhuwan Kapdi, MLAs Adesh Chauhan, Lakhpat Butola, Ravi Bahadur, president of Mahila Congress Jyoti Rautela, Mahanagar Congress president Jaswinder Gogi and others attended the march.
