Authorities close five medical stores in Dehradun

The Dehradun District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in coordination with the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) closed five medical stores in Dehradun during a joint inspection under the Safe Drugs Safe Life campaign on Thursday.

The authorities have directed to keep these stores closed till the owners address respective irregularities, as per the officials.The inspection was carried out on Shimla Bypass Road, GMS Road, Ballupur Road and Kaulagarh Road. The DLSA secretary Seema Dungarakoti along with drug inspector Manendra Singh Rana, police officials and others conducted the inspection.

The officials informed that the authorities shut down New Khalsa Medical Store and Health Care Pharmacy on Shimla Bypass Road after they found expired medicines and observed poor maintenance.

Negi Medicos Pharmacy on GMS Road, Sairam Medical Store on Ballupur Road and Madhu Brothers Pharmacy on Kaulagarh Road were also closed as pharmacists were allegedly absent and sales registers were not maintained.

The officials stated that the teams also inspected Mister Care Pharmacy on GMS Road and Tata 1MG Pharmacy on Kaulagarh Road and issued necessary directions to correct irregularities. The officials stated that such inspections will continue every month in coordination with the FDA and stores with serious violations will be ordered to suspend operations.
