CS inspects 280-bed satellite AIIMS, stresses completion by July

The chief secretary, Anand Bardhan conducted a site inspection of the 280-bed satellite AIIMS under construction at a cost of Rs 351 crore in Kichha on Thursday. During the inspection, he instructed the Central Public Works department engineers to speed up the work by engaging more workers and equipment and complete the hospital project by July-end. He said that the hospital buildings should be given priority by making a work plan so that OPD can start operating from August.
A CPWD engineer, Utpal Tripathi said that the work of the hospital will be completed by July 30, adding that the work of residential buildings is more than 85 per cent complete and will be completed by May. The roads of the hospital will also be completed by May and plantation will be done in June, he said. Moreover, 250 beds, 10 OTs, 30 ICU beds, Diagnosis and Lab, Cardiology, Nephrology, Urology, Neurology, General Surgery, Ortho, General Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency and Trauma are being built in AIIMS. This aside, a rest house and a shopping complex are also being built in the hospital.
The director, AIIMS, Rishikesh, Dr Meenu Singh said that if the hospital work is completed and handed over in July, then OPD will be started from August.
The superintending engineer, Irrigation, informed that there are three approach gates on the highway side of AIIMS where drains will be constructed and approach culverts will be made before July.
During the inspection, the CS and Divisional Commissioner, Deepak Rawat planted saplings in the campus.
Among those present during the inspection were the district magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar, Nitin Singh Bhadoria, senior superintendent of police Ajay Ganpati and chief development officer Divesh Shashani.
