DAV PG College to declare second merit for UG courses soon

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

With seats remaining vacant, students who have not appeared for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will also get a chance to enroll in undergraduate courses at DAV PG College. It is expected that the college administration will soon release the second merit list for students interested in enrolling in these undergraduate programmes.

It will be recalled that the registration link on the Samarth portal for admission to the first year of BA, BSc, BCom, BSc IT and LLB at DAV PG Collegeradun—affiliated with HNB Garhwal University—was activated beginning July 19. This year, only those students who had appeared for the CUET-UG 2025 exam, with results recently announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA), were initially eligible for admission.

These students were to register based on the subjects they selected during their examination. Following the registration period, the administration of DAV PG College released the merit list for students eligible to enroll in undergraduate courses. The admission process at the college began on August 5.

Informing about the current status of admission at the college, the media in-charge and professor at DAV PG College, Prashant Singh informed that the admission process for UG courses started on August 5 and was initially slated to conclude on August 8. However, due to some reasons, the college administration extended the admission deadline to August 14. Till this new deadline, students whose names were on the merit list completed their admissions.

He said that this year, the number of registrations on the Samarth portal was lower, leading to a reduced number of students on the merit list. As a result, about 50 per cent of seats have remained vacant in the UG courses. In light of this situation, the college administration has informed HNB Garhwal University about the current status of the seats.

Consequently, the university will reopen the registration process on the portal, but the eligibility criteria will differ this time. Students who want to revise their subject choices can register and those who have not given the CUET will also be able to register. After the registration, the university will assign names to the students and subsequently, the college administration will declare the second merit list for UG courses, he said.
