The Dehradun district administration has issued strict guidelines regarding the registration and renewal of all ultrasound and radio diagnostic centres operating or proposed in the district.

Informing this, the district magistrate, Savin Bansal said that no diagnostic centre will be allowed to operate unless it fully complies with the prescribed public safety standards. The administration has taken stringent measures to ensure public safety for the registration of ultrasound centres and all radio diagnostic facilities located in hospitals and other areas within the district. Over the past six months, the district administration has been registering new diagnostic centres that meet the established standards and renewing registrations for previously operating centres, he informed.

DM emphasised that all hospitals, ultrasound and radio diagnostic centres must adhere to the provisions of the Clinical Establishment Act of 2010. Additionally, proper arrangements for the safe disposal of biomedical waste must be ensured in accordance with the Biomedical Waste Management Rules. Compliance with the PCPNDT Act has also been made mandatory for centres providing ultrasound services, he said.

“During the registration or renewal process, thorough compliance with all standards will be required. This includes cleanliness and sanitation systems, structural safety of the building, a valid fire safety certificate, an approved biomedical waste disposal system, and a mandatory sewage treatment system, along with the NOC from the Pollution Control Board,” he added.

DM further directed the officials concerned to carefully scrutinise all applications and to grant registration or renewal only to centres that fully meet all requirements. If any irregularities are detected, strict action will be taken against the responsible individuals as per the rules, he warned.
