PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
The administration of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya district hospital has recently demanded Rs 92 lakh for equipment, along with the appointment of human resources from the director general of Health, for the blood bank being established in the hospital. It is important to note that, following the directive from the district magistrate, the hospital administration submitted a proposal for the blood bank to the State administration, which was recently approved. Additionally, officials had earlier indicated that the State administration has issued a tender to Peyjal Nigam for the construction of the blood bank. Currently, construction work related to the blood bank at the hospital is ongoing. Moreover, an initial budget of around Rs 1.42 crore was approved earlier for this project.
Regarding the current progress of the blood bank, principal medical superintendent Dr Manu Jain said that about 80 per cent of the construction has been completed. However, the work was temporarily paused for two to three days due to rainfall and other unavoidable reasons.
In light of these considerations, he promptly instructed the builders to continue the construction of the blood bank without any delays, warning that a report would be submitted to the authorities. As a result, work on the construction resumed. He emphasised that it was crucial to expedite the completion of the blood bank project at this time. Recently, he wrote to the director general of Health, demanding Rs 92 lakh for the acquisition of essential equipment for the blood bank. In addition, he also called for the recruitment of HR specifically for the blood bank within the hospital. It is anticipated that the construction of the blood bank will be fully completed within the next two to three months. He further said that the operational blood bank at the hospital will address numerous issues, such as ensuring timely access to blood during major surgeries, emergency situations and childbirth. He informed that the blood bank is being constructed over two floors.
Jain also said that following the procurement of equipment and appointment of HR, the process of applying for licences for the blood bank will be applied thereafter.
