Doon University to hold special classes for back papers

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
For the first time, the Doon University administration will organise special classes for students who did not achieve good marks or have departed and will appear for a back examination under the National Education Policy (NEP). The university’s registrar Durgesh Dimri said that earlier, students had the option to receive a graduation degree and then pursue a postgraduate degree. However, with the implementation of the NEP, changes have been made to the course. These changes include a new four-year programme that allows students to earn an honours plus research degree after completing a three-year graduation degree; however, this is a choice for students. As the students, according to the NEP, can make multiple entries and exits, for example, he or she can exist after the first year of graduation, the second year and so on.
To qualify for the fourth year and pursue the honours and research degree, students must achieve a minimum mark which has been fixed. This year, for the first time, the university is introducing an option for students who did not perform well in their exams or have failed in the semester, allowing them to improve their results by applying for these extra classes. Additionally, Doon University will hold special classes for students who plan to take supplementary/back examinations.
He informed that registration for these extra classes has already begun and will continue until July 5. It is anticipated that the dated deadline for registrations will be extended. Students are required to obtain a form from the examination section, have it signed by the relevant teachers and then submit the form along with the applicable fees to the examination section. This facility will be available only to students from the 2022, 2023 and 2024 batches of the university, he said.
He further informed that professors at the university will conduct the extra classes, which are expected to be offered in an online format, although this decision for the said class schedule will be finalised later. Further, students can apply to improve their results in a maximum of five subjects, he added.
