U’khand to develop Badrinath Dham as a spiritual hill township

Uttarakhand government is planning to develop Badrinath Dham as a spiritual hill township. The Tourism department officers shared the detailed plan of the township and the ongoing works under the Badrinath Master Plan with the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the secretariat on Wednesday.
Tourism secretary Dhiraj Garbyal informed the CM that works are being carried out in a multi-dimensional and phased manner to develop Badrinath as a spiritual smart hill town, the aim of which is to provide a divine and organized experience to the pilgrims with modern facilities.
He stated that under the master plan, various sites are being specially developed, keeping in mind the area’s beautification, cultural identity and spiritual significance. Dev Darshini Point is being designed to provide devotees with a grand and divine first glimpse of Badrinath Dham. He added that the Badrinarayan Chowk is being developed as a major spiritual and cultural centre, offering superior facilities and attractive public spaces for devotees.
The wall of the ISBT at Badrinath Dham will showcase the region’s cultural heritage through murals based on local art and religious themes. Vasudha Vatika artwork will create attractive landscapes incorporating nature, spirituality, and the traditional art of Uttarakhand.
The master plan also highlights symbols associated with Lord Vishnu. Magnificent artworks such as the Panchajanya conch, the Kaumodaki Gada (mace), the Sudarshan Chakra and the Vaikuntha gate will be constructed. Additionally, the Sheshnetra artwork and structures based on the Panchtatva theme will reflect spiritual energy and Indian philosophy. Symbols from the Ramayana and Mahabharata periods, based on Lord Rama and Krishna have also been incorporated into the master plan. A plan has also been developed for the development of the Diya Aarti site, ensuring a divine and unforgettable experience for devotees. Streetscape development is also proposed throughout the area, including modern and environmentally friendly walkways, lighting, seating, signage and beautification.
In the meeting, the CM directed officials to ensure all necessary provisions are included in this master plan to enhance the divine beauty of Badrinath Dham, making it even more grand and attractive. He said that special attention should also be paid to local culture and environmental protection. He stated that these initiatives will not only strengthen the spiritual atmosphere in Badrinath, but also provide a new direction for tourism. Upon completion, Badrinath will be established as an ideal destination, offering a balanced blend of faith, modernity, and nature, the CM averred.
