Ensure construction works as per public aspirations, says CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that construction works should be executed according to the aspirations of the public. Chairing a meeting to review the Sharada corridor development project at his camp office in Khatima on Tuesday, Dhami said that all works related to the project should be executed as per the aspirations of the public and local beliefs. He said that the project is aimed at facilitating the all-round development of an area covering about 200 square kilometres to enhance the area from the religious, cultural, tourism and environmental aspects.

The CM reviewed in detail the 38 major works under the project while directing the officials to ensure that the works are completed on time while focusing on quality and transparency. These works include the redevelopment of Sharada Ghat, city drainage plan, Rankochi Mata Mandir renovation, development of a heliport at Banbasa, construction of a mountain bike trail from Chuka to Chalthi, development of an international border bazaar at Banbasa, a master plan for Sharada riverfront and creation of aero sports facilities, among others. Dhami also directed the officials to execute the land acquisition and transfer works promptly on a priority basis while also stressing on ensuring that the works are executed as per the fixed timeline. He further emphasised that environment conservation should be accorded top priority in all the construction works while also incorporating aspects of the local culture and architecture in the design and structures. The executing agency was also directed to open a local office so that the construction works are expedited. Dhami said that work will be undertaken in the future to develop the Vivekanand circuit in Lohaghat and to develop the Varahi Dham into a spiritual zone. In addition to this, focus should also be laid on developing the area into a destination wedding hub and development of a Shaurya Sthal in the memory of army, paramilitary and police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He said that the Sharada corridor project is aimed at retaining the spiritual, cultural and historical identity of Tanakpur while enhancing the tourism, environmental and religious experience of the people. A total of investment of about Rs 3,300 crore is proposed in this project and work is being undertaken at a swift pace for the execution of this project. This project will prove to be helpful in giving a new identity to Tanakpur city, the CM added.
