Assam CM makes ritual offerings to ancestors in Haridwar

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was in Haridwar on Sunday to participate in Shraddh rituals at Narayani Shila. Thousands of people arrived in Haridwar during the day to undertake ritual offerings to their ancestors. Sarma reached the Narayani Shila Mandir where he conducted Shraddh, Tarpan and Hawan.Even as multitudes had queued at the temple since early morning to undertake rituals, the security was tightened due to the arrival of the Assam chief minister. Talking briefly to the media, Sarma said that he always tries to come here during Shraddh and was fortunate to reach Narayani Shila Mandir to pay ritual offerings on the occasion. He also prayed to Goddess Ganga for peace and prosperity in India and Assam.
Meanwhile, many thousands of people thronged Haridwar on the last day of Shraddh Paksha. According to local Purohits and traders, the number of people who arrived in Haridwar on Pitra Visarjan this year was higher than the numbers witnessed in the past few years.
