The Uttarakhand government has suspended two officials including a sector magistrate and an assistant professor along with two police personnel in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) graduate-level exam paper leak case. The sector magistrate Kailash Nath Tiwari and the assistant professor Suman were suspended earlier for their role in the incident.
The Haridwar senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobal suspended sub-inspector Rohit Kumar and police constable Brahmdatt Joshi. Both were posted at Adarsh Bal Sadan Inter College, Bahadurpur Jat in Haridwar, where the main accused Khalid Malik was appearing for the examination. The two were charged with failing to maintain vigilance during duty at the exam centre. Dobhal has ordered disciplinary action and directed Roorkee circle officer of police Narendra Pant to investigate the matter. The SSP instructed him to complete the probe within a week and provide a detailed report.
The examination was held on September 21 across the State and Adarsh Bal Sadan Inter College was one of the centres. It has been alleged that out of 18 rooms at this centre, three did not have jammers. These included room numbers 9, 17 and 18. The absence of jammers raised questions about the role of the technical team.
According to the police, Malik took permission from the invigilator to step outside the examination hall about half an hour after the exam began. He allegedly carried the paper with him, went to the washroom, clicked images of three pages and sent them to his sister Sabia. She forwarded the images to Suman, who responded with answers despite being aware of the ongoing examination. The officials said that the police are investigating the matter and further action will be taken against the accused accordingly.
