The water level of the Ganga has crossed the danger mark in Haridwar on Wednesday, having reached 294.20 meters. With the river flowing in full spate, the district administration has been worryingly monitoring the water level. The officials said that several areas in the city like Bairagi Camp and Bhoopatwala have been staring at flood.
The district magistrate Mayur Dixit and SSP, Parmendra Singh Dobhal were present in these vulnerable areas since the morning, monitoring the relief and rescue operations.
Meanwhile, a major landslide occurred on Tuesday near the Siddha Peethkali temple located below the Mansa Devi hill. During the landslide, a large stone along with debris slipped from the mountain slopes and fell on the railway track due to which the railway track remained blocked for over 20 hours.
The district administration has appealed to all those living on the banks of the Ganga to remain alert. The SDRF and other disaster management teams have been deployed in view of the potential inundation threat.
