GBPUAT welcomes Vikram Samvat 2082

The Sanskritik Chetna Parishad, operating under the guidance of the Dean, Student Welfare, G B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBUAT), Pantnagar, hosted a cultural programme ‘Navarambh’ to mark the Hindu New Year Vikram Samvat 2082 in the university premises. The vice-chancellor Manmohan Singh Chauhan and the dean, Student Welfare, Anand Singh Jeena inaugurated it. Thereafter, the fourth edition of the magazine ‘Sanskriti’ run by the students of the university was launched. The cultural performances started with poetry recital ‘Ankuran’ followed by performances of classical dance performance, band shows, music and drama.
Addressing the programme, the VC said that such programmes encourage cultural awareness and unity in the society. “We have to strive towards making India a developed nation based on our heritage,” he said. Jeena highlighted the goals, achievements and activities of the parishad and dwelt on the significance of Indian culture.
The programme concluded with the winners of various competitions organised by the parishad being awarded certificates and medals and a joint cultural programme performed by all the participants.
