Haridwar Municipal Corporation is going all-out to ensure a clean Kanwad Yatra. This time, the civic body has been using drone technology to effectively monitor the sanitation of the ghats. According to the civic body officials, the drone service is being conducted through
an outsourced agency which is monitoring the ghats and surrounding areas. They added that strengthening the sanitation system was an imperative in view of the huge influx of the devotees.
Besides, additional sanitation workers have been deployed as per the requirement on each ghat with the supervisors monitoring the work round the clock.
The municipal commissioner, Haridwar, Nandan Kumar informed that an effective, fast and transparent system of technical monitoring is being implemented by them to ensure cleanliness of the ghats during the Yatra. “Whenever rubbish is found on any ghat, a message is sent to the authorised WhatsApp group of the Municipal Corporation along with its location by taking its photo by drone. All the chief sanitation inspectors of the area are connected to this group who take immediate action on the basis of the pictures received,” he added.
