Higher Edu dept to send 80 teachers to IISc Bengaluru for training

The Higher Education department has selected 80 teachers from State universities and colleges for training at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru. 

These science teachers will be introduced to the latest scientific research, experimental approaches, and practical teaching methods, so they can ignite the interest of students in science. The training programme will be held from April 24 to May 9. 

The department has signed a memorandum of understanding with the IISc on the issue. 

The programme aims to train teachers and develop experimental and research activities in educational institutions. The selected teachers include 16 physics teachers, 19 chemistry teachers, 13 mathematics teachers, 16 botany teachers and 16 zoology teachers. The teachers will receive practical training in state-of-the-art laboratories and be introduced to new dimensions of science education.

The Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that higher education is being made more qualitative, innovative and future-oriented by providing specialised training to teachers in prestigious institutions of the country.

Higher Education secretary Ranjit Sinha said that the initiative will significantly improve the quality of science education in the state’s higher educational institutions. He said that the trained teachers will return to their institutions and provide students with modern, engaging and hands-on instruction, fostering curiosity and interest in science. The director of Higher Education and the registrars of all State universities have been instructed to ensure the participation of selected teachers in the training programme, he said.
