Higher Education Dept enters MoU with top institutes to teach AI & emerging technology

The Higher Education department of Uttarakhand has entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Infosys, NESCOM and Wadhwani group to make the students of colleges and universities of the State expert in subjects such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), emerging technology, data science and entrepreneurship.

The Higher Education director Kamal Kishore Pandey said that subjects such as digital skills and entrepreneurship have been effectively introduced from the current academic session in the colleges as per the guidelines of the national credit framework (NCRF). He said that the department has inked a tripartite MoU with Infosys, NESCOM and Wadhwani group with the assistance of SETU commission so that the subjects such as AI and emerging technology become easily accessible to the students.

 He said that those students who are not covered with the amended syllabus will also be given a chance to study the skill programmes so that they are able to hone their skills by technical expertise.

Pandey added that any student of any stream can do the AI, Emerging Tech and Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation course in progressive mode in the first year itself. The students can take up the courses of Life Skills of Wadhwani group in their last year. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given recognition to this course.

The students of Humanities stream will have to compulsorily take up Data Science course in any one semester. The students can get additional credit from these courses which will be shown in their mark sheets.

The Higher Education minister, Dhan Singh Rawat said that providing skill based education to the students is the top priority of the State government. He said that the department has entered a MoU with top educational and technical institutes for special courses such as AI, Emerging Tech, Data Sciences and Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation which will help in giving a new direction to the career of the students.
