The grounding of Rs one lakh crore investment in the State was celebrated at an event presided over by Union Home and Cooperation minister Amit Shah at Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar district on Saturday. Praising the efforts of the State government, Shah assured full support of the Central government to the State.

Addressing the Uttarakhand Investment Festival-2025, the Union minister recalled the closing ceremony of the Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit in December 2023 where he had told chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami that the real strength of the government would be in ensuring the grounding of memoranda of understanding worth Rs 3,56,000 crore signed during the summit. He expressed happiness at the grounding of Rs one lakh crore investment despite various challenges.

This has also paved the way for creation of 81,000 jobs along with 2.5 lakh new jobs in supporting industries. Shah said that industries are also being established in tier-II and III cities in Uttarakhand. He said that the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government had created Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. These three States are becoming self-reliant with the double-engine government being elected consecutively in Uttarakhand after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office at the Centre in 2014, he said.

Referring to PM Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, Shah said that this aim cannot be achieved without a developed Uttarakhand. The all-round development of the nation along with smaller States and the North Eastern States is also important. The government is laying special focus on ensuring this, he said. Citing the ancient pilgrimage centres in Uttarakhand, the Union minister said that nobody can stall this State’s development. “The State government is working with transparency to achieve the developmental target. It is working to attract tourists throughout the year. PM Modi does not leave any gaps in Uttarakhand’s development. This is why when some objected to the all-weather road, the Central government strongly advocated for the project in the Supreme Court and worked to bring the all-weather road to the Char Dham,” he said.

The Union minister further said that during 10 years of the Modi government, Rs 1,86,000 crore were provided to Uttarakhand. Additionally, Rs 31,000 crore was allocated for roads, Rs 40,000 crore for railway projects and Rs 100 crore for airports. Considering this, the Central assistance provided to Uttarakhand under the Modi government was about four times more than the Central assistance provided by the previous government, Shah added.

Dhami pointed out that in addition to celebrating the grounding of Rs one lakh crore investsment, various important projects worth Rs 1,342 crore were also launched on the occasion. He said that Uttarakhand is attaining new heights in investment, innovation and industrial development. Referring to steps taken by the State government for industrial development, he said that more than 30 policies have been implemented to provide a better environment for industries. He thanked PM Modi and Union minister Shah for their continued support and guidance.

Patanjali group founder Swami Ramdev said that the State government is trying to move forward by balancing development and environment. He appreciated the wellness policy in Uttarakhand and also appreciated Dhami for implementation of the Uniform Civil Code. Vidhan Sabha speaker Ritu Khanduri, Union minister of State Ajay Tamta, other public representatives and UPES president Sunil Rai were also present on the occasion.
